How Do I Write a Six Minute Play?

The play or scene must be no more than 6 minutes in length. It must comply to our terms and conditions. It must also be self contained - i.e must have its beginning, middle and end within it.

Apart from this though, you should do whatever you want - the more original the better!

You may want to avoid large numbers of characters, big scene changes and long introductions and explanations of the plot - after all time is not on your side! This means that the space opera you always wanted to write charting the rebellion of a thousand spider-like aliens on 40 planets over a thousand years may not work in 6 minutes. However, if you can pull it off then we'll be the first to congratulate you.

There is no limit to the number of characters. For performance, age of the characters should ideally be over 16. Sets and effects should be as simple as possible as we will be unable to produce a play if it requires a high budget to stage.

Think about what can happen in 6 minutes. Your aim is to tell your complete story in this time so keep it simple and direct.
