Lewes Writer brings Great Plague to Brighton Fringe

Catchy! The Great Plague Musical is coming to the Brighton Fringe Festival this May.

Julian Bain

Written and Directed by Lewes writer Julian Bain with music by Julian Bain & Chris Stevens, ‘Carry On’ meets ‘Oliver’ in this bawdy musical comedy with rats, dancing corpses, nymphomaniac maids and very catchy songs. It is the year 1665 and plague is ravaging London Towne. Tom, a poor body collector falls in love with the daughter of the Lord Mayor. Nothing can stop their love apart from the schemes of the Lord Mayor, mad diarist Samuel Pepys, the walking dead and a very big fire.

Catchy! was a sell out show at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival

“Dickens’s Oliver Twist and the oeuvre of Graham Norton appear to collide in the deliciously vulgar Catchy! For pure simple entertainment you can’t go wrong with a bit of Catchy!” ThreeWeeks 2006

You can see Catchy! at the 2008 Brighton Festival. It is being performed at the Brighthelm Centre from 12 May till 17 May.
